How large is the covered area?

As a guideline: around 480 pixels at the bottom, 140 on the right and 130 at the top for a 1080 × 1920 video. Exact positions vary by device.

Why are my subtitles cut off?

Because many editing tools place subtitles low — exactly where TikTok shows the username and caption. Move them noticeably higher.
